It seems all the elements have come together just right this year for tremendous antler growth on the elk. The trail cam picture of these bulls was June 2nd. I can't wait to see how they finish out!
This is a nice bull I saw on the winter range this afternoon. He has great main beams.
Experienced outfitter adds two-day classroom and range course to help hunters maximize their long-distance shooting skills
LOGAN, Utah – September 23, 2014 – Porcupine Adventures, a hunting outfitter based in Paradise, Utah, today announced a new long-range shooting school that will teach gun enthusiasts and hunters the knowledge and skill required to hit targets at the maximum effective range of their rifles. The two-day school, conducted in partnership with Ogden, Utah-based Bullseye Precision Arms, combines classroom instruction with practical application on the range. Classes begin in March 2015 at the Three Mile Creek Gun Range in Perry, Utah.
Registration is open now at PorcupineAdventures.com and a $100 deposit is required to reserve a spot for spring 2015. Individuals who register for a class before December 31, 2014 will be entered to win a free private land Utah cow elk hunt in October 2015. The winner of the hunt will be announced in early 2015.
“In the more than 25 years that I have been in the outfitting business, one of the most talked about and desired skills among the hunters I guide is long-range shooting,” said David Leishman, founder of Porcupine Adventures. “Unfortunately, the cost to attend some of these schools is several thousand dollars, which can be prohibitive to most people. Our affordable school features a comprehensive classroom environment and expert range instruction led by world-class shooting instructor, Landon Gines, owner of Bullseye Precision Arms. I am confident that our school will provide an incredible experience in one on of the most picturesque locations in the country.”
Among the topics covered during the two days of instruction are the following:
Hunters and shooter are encourage to bring the rifles they hunt with, although a broad variety of rifles will be available to use on the range. The majority of the first afternoon of the school will in the classroom, with some time being spent on the range. The second day will be on the long-range course where students will learn practical application of the classroom instruction. Students will shoot at various size gongs from 100 to 1,000 yards.
